Solution:

Let the sides of the isosceles triangle be

3 x, 3 x

and

4 x {cm}

∴

According to the question,

3 x+3 x+4 x \;\; =20

x \;\; =2

∴

Sides are

3 × 2,3 × 2

and

4 × 2=6 {cm}, 6 {cm}

and

8 {cm}

∴

Altitude of the triangle

=√{(6)^{2}-(4)^{2}}

[ ∵

from Pythagoras theorem]

=√{20}=2 √{5} {cm}
