An angle is greater than its complementary by 20°. What will be the measure of the angle?

Solution:

Let the angle = θ
Its complementary angle = (θ + 20° )
Sum of an angle and its complementary angle = 90°
⇒

θ + (θ + 20° ) = 90°

⇒

2θ=90°-20°=70°

⇒

θ=70/2=35°

∴ Measure of the angle =

35+20=55°
