Solution:

(2) Five consecutive integers are :

x, x + 1, x + 2, x + 3 \and x + 4

∴ Their average

= {x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4}/{5}

= {5 x+10}/{5}=x+2

New average

= {(5 x+10)+x+5+x+6}/{7}

= {7 x+21}/{7}=x+3

Difference

= x + 3 – x – 2 = 1
