Solution:

(2) (A + B)’s 1 day’s work

=1/8

(B + C)’s 1 day’s work =

1/12

(A + B + C)’s 1 day’s work =

1/6

∴ C’s 1 day’s work =

1/6-1/8

= {4-3}/{24}= {1}/{24}

A’s 1 day’s work

= {1}/{6}- {1}/{12}= {2-1}/{12}= {1}/{12}

∴ (A + C)’s 1 day’s work

= {1}/{12}+ {1}/{24}= {2+1}/{24}= {1}/{8}

∴ Required time = 8 days
