The radius of a cylindrical milk container is half its height and surface area of the inner part is 616 sq. cm. The amount of milk that the container can hold, approximately, is

Solution:

(2) Surface area of milk pot.

=2 \π r h+\π r^{2}

=\π r(2 h+r)

= {\π h}/{2} (2 h+ {h}/{2} )

= {5 \π h^{2}}/{4}

∴{5}/{4}×{22}/{7} × h^{2}=616

⇒ h^{2}= {616 × 4 × 7}/{5 × 22}= {28× 28}/{5}

∴

Volume of milk

=\π r^{2} h

= {22}/{7} ×{h^{2}}/{4} × h

= {22}/{28} ×{28× 28 × 28}/{5 ×√{5}}

= {22×28× 28 × √5}/{25}

= {22×28× 28 × 2.23}/{25}

= 1538.5 cu. cm.= 1.54 litres
