The labourers A, B, C were given a contract of Rs. 750 for doing a certain piece of work. All the three together can finish the work in 8 days. A and C together can do it in 12 days, while A and B together can do it in

Solution:

(1) (A + B + C)’s 1 day‘s work =

1/8

(A + C)’s 1 day’s work =

1/12

..... (ii)
∴ B’s 1 day’s work

=1/8-1/12={3-2}/24=1/24

(A + B)’s 1 day’s work =

3/ 40

∴ A’s 1 day’s work

=3/40=1/24={9-5}/120=4/120=1/30

..... (iii)
∴ C’s 1 day‘s work = Equation (ii) – (iii)

1/12-1/30={5-2}/60=3/60=1/20

∴ Ratio of the division of amount

=1/30:1/24:1/20

= ( {1}/{30}× 120 ) : ( {1}/{24} × 120 ) : ( {1}/{20}× 120 )

[LCM of 30, 24, and 20 = 120]
= 4 : 5 : 6
