Solution:

(3) Let the number of oranges in the first basket be x.
∴ Number of oranges in the second basket = 640 – x
According to the question,

x- {x}/{5}=640-x+\ {x}/{5}

=640- (x- {x}/{5} )

⇒{4 x}/{5}=640- {4 x}/{5}

⇒{4 x}/{5}+ {4 x}/{5}=640

⇒{8 x}/{5}=640⇒ 8 x=640 ×5

⇒ x= {640 ×5}/{8}=400
