Solution:

(2) Let the number be x.
According to the question,

x^{2}-25=(x-25)^{2}

⇒ x^{2}-25=x^{2}-50 x+625

⇒ 50 x=625+25=650

⇒ 5 x=65⇒ x= {65}/{5}=13
