The point P (a, b) is first reflected in origin to

P _1 \and P _2

is reflected in T-axis to (4,-3). What are the co-ordinates of point P?

Solution:

Point P(a, b) after reflection at the origin =

P_1 (-a, - b)

and point

P_1 (-a, - b)

after reflection on the y-axis =

P_2(a, -b )

According to the question,
(a, - b ) = ( 4 ,- 3 )
⇒ a = 4, -b = -3
a = 4, b = 3
Hence, coordinates of point P = (4 ,3)
