The average weight of A, B and C is 49 kg. If the average weight of A and B is 35 kg and that of B and C is 62 kg, then what is the weight of B (in kg) ?

Solution:

According to the question,

A + B + C = 3 × 4 9 = 147

...(i)

A + B = 2 × 3 5 =70

...(ii)

B + C = 2 × 6 2 =124

...(iii)
From Eqs. (i) and (ii),

A + B + C - A - B = 147 -70

C =77

On putting the value of C in Eq. (iii),

B + 77 = 124

∴

B =47

So, weight of B = 47 kg
