If a person walks at 15 km /hr instead of 9 km /hr, he would have walked 3 km more in the same time. What is the actual distance (in km) travelled by him?

Solution:

Let the actual distance = x km
Time =

\Distance/\Speed

According to the question,
⇒

{x + 3}/15=x/9

⇒

9 (x + 3) = 15x

⇒

9x + 27 = 15x

⇒

6 x =27

∴

x=27/5=4.5
