The ratio of present ages of L and N is 7 : 5. If the age of N after seven years w ill be 32 years, then what is the present age (in years) of L?

Solution:

Let L’s present age = 7x years
and N’s present age = 5x years
According to the question,

5 x + 7 =32

⇒ 5x =25
∴

x=25/5=5

L’s present age = 7 × 5 = 35 years
