A chord of length 60 cm is at a distance of 16 cm from the centre of a circle. What is the radius (in cm) of the circle?

Solution:

AB = 60 cm
AD = DB =

60/2=30\cm

OD = 16 cm

∴\OA^2=\AD^2+\OD^2

=30^2+16^2

=1156

∴\OA=34\cm
