If the radius of the cylinder is increased by 25%, then by how much percent the height must be reduced, so that the volume of the cylinder remains same?

Solution:

Volume of cylinder

= πr^2h

New radius of cylinder

=r×125/100={5r}/4

Let x% should be decrease in height.
According to the question,

π({5r}/4)^2×h({100-x}/100)=πr^2h

⇒{100-x}/100=16/25

⇒x=100-64 =36%
