Let the number = x
According to the question,

x+4/x=17/2⇒{x^2+4}/x=17/2

⇒

2 x^2 + 8 = 1 7x

⇒

2x^ 2 - 1 7x + 8 = 0

⇒

2 x^2 - 16x - x + 8 = 0

⇒

2x ( x - 8) - 1 ( x - 8) = 0

⇒

( x - 8) (2 x - 1 ) = 0

∴

x=8,1/2

Here, required number = 8
