Solution:

Let the distance covered on foot be x km.
∴ Distance covered by cycle
= (61 – x) km.
According to the question,
Time =

{\Disatnce}/{\Speed}

⇒

x/4 + {61-x}/9

= 9
⇒

{9x+244-4x}/{36}

= 9
⇒ 5x = 9 × 36 - 244
⇒ 5x = 324 – 244 = 80
⇒ x =

{80}/5

= 16 km
