In the following question, correct the equation by interchanging two signs.

4 × 3 - 6 ÷ 2 + 7 = 8

Solution:

4 × 3 - 6 ÷ 2 + 7 = 8

From option (1), on interchanging the sign - and +,
4 × 3 + 6 ÷ 2 - 7 = 8
⇒

1 2 + 3 - 7 = 8 ⇒ 1 5 -7 = 8

∴ 8 = 8
