What is the area (in sq cm) of a rectangle if its diagonal is 25 cm and one of its sides is 24 cm?

Solution:

Let the second side of the rectangle = a

According to the question,

√{a^2+(24)^2}=25

⇒

a^2+576=625

⇒

a^2=49

∴ a = 7
Area of the rectangle

= 7 × 2 4 = 168 \cm^ 2
