Since 16 men can complete a work in 15 days and 24 children can do the same work in 20 days.
∴ 16 × 15 man = 24 × 20 children
⇒ 1 man º 2 children
∴ 8 men + 8 children = (8 + 4) men = 12 men
∴ ${\mathit{M}}_1{\mathit{D}}_1$ = ${\mathit{M}}_2{\mathit{D}}_2$
⇒ 16 × 15 = 12 × ${\mathit{D}}_2$
⇒ ${\mathit{D}}_2$ = $\frac{16\times 15}{12}$ = 20 days
