Solution:

According to the question,

⇒ \;\; \;{(24-x)}/{(40-x)}=\;{(33-x)}/{(57-x)}

⇒(24-x)(57-x)=(40-x)(33-x)

⇒ 24 × 57-24 x-57 x+x^{2}

\;\; =40 × 33-40 x-33 x+x^{2}

⇒ \;\; 1368-81 x=1320-73 x

⇒ 1368-1320=81 x-73 x

⇒ \;\; 48=8 x

⇒ \;\; x=6

∴ \;\text " Required ratio "\;

\;\;\; \;{5 x+12}/{4 x+15}=\;{5 × 6+12}/{4 × 6+15}

\;\;\; =\;{42}/{39}=\;{14}/{13}=14: 13
