Kerala's Arya Rajendran has become the youngest mayor of the country at age 21 , after her election to the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] mayoral candidate in the election won the civic body elections from Mudavanmugal ward of the city Corporation, winning 2872 votes. Rajendran is a state committee member of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and also the State President of Balasangam, the children's wing of the Left party.
