Sidhu Manjhi was one of the leaders of the Santhal rebellion. The Santhal Revolt took place in 1855-56 by the Santal Adivasis and lower caste peasants against the East India Company (EIC) and zamindari system by the Santhal. The rebellion was led by the four Murmu Brothers - Sidhu, Kanhu, Chand and Bhairav. Santhals are a tribal group concentrated in the State of Jharkhand.
