Work done (W) is the product of the magnitude of the force $\left(\mathit{F}\right)$ acting and the displacement (s) in the direction of the force. It is represented as $\mathit{W}=\mathit{F}\mathit{s}$. The SI unit of work is the joule. Work is a scalar quantity, so it has only magnitude and no direction. Work transfers energy from one place to another or one form to another.
