Pranita got 30 marks more in Math then what she got in Science. Her Math marks are 60% of the sum of her Math and Science marks. What are her Science marks?

Solution:

Let marks in science = x
∴ Marks in maths = (x + 30)
According to the question,

x+30=(x+x+30)×{60}/{100}

⇒ 10(x+30)=(2 x+30)×6

⇒ 10 x+300=12 x+180

⇒

300-180=12 x-10 x

⇒

120 x=2 x∴ x= {120}/{2}=60
