A milk merchant buys 50 litres of milk at the rate of ₹40 per litre and mixes 5 litre of water in it. If he sells this mixture at the rate of ₹42 per litre, then what is the profit percentage for the dealer ?

Solution:

According to the question,
Cost price = 50 × 40 = ₹ 2000
and selling price

=(50+5) × 42

=55×42=\₹ 2310

∴ Profit percentage

= {2310-2000}/{2000} ×100

= {310}/{20}=15.5 \%
