Binny’s present age= x years
∴ Akki’s present age= (x – 7) years
According to the question,
x + 16 = 2 (x – 7 – 2) = 2 (x – 9)
⇒ x + 16 = 2x – 18
⇒ 2x – x = 18 + 16
⇒ x = 34 years
∴ Required sum = x + x – 7
= (2x – 7) years
= (2 × 34 – 7) years
= (68 – 7) years = 61 years
