A sum of Rs. 10,000 is lent partly at 8% and remaining at 10% per annum. If the yearly interest on the average is 9.2%, the two parts are :

Solution:

(1) Let x is for 8%
then 10000 – x is for 10%
Accordingly,

{10000× 9.2×{t}}/{100}= { {x} × 8×{t}}/{100}

= {(10000-x) × 10 × t}/{100}

{92000 t}/{100}= {18 x t}/{100}+ {(10000-x) 10 t}/{100}

92000t = 8xt + (10000 – x) 10t

92000t = 8x + 100000 – 10x

2x = 8000

x = 4000

∴ First part = Rs. 4000
Second part = Rs. 6000
