Rahul sold a calculator at a gain of 8%. Had he sold it for ₹ 90 more, he would have gained 12%. Find out the cost price of the calculator.

Solution:

(2) Let the cost price of calculator be ₹ x.
According to the question,

{108 x}/{100}+90= {112 x}/{100}

⇒ 90= {112 x}/{100}- {108 x}/{100}

⇒ 90= {112 x-108 x}/{100}

⇒ 90= {4 x}/{100}

⇒ x= {90 × 100}/{4} ⇒ x=₹ 2250
