Solution:

(3) Let the rate of interest be r%. Then difference in interest =

{3200 × 5 × r}/{100× 2}- {3000 × 5 × r}/{100 × 2}=40

⇒ 80 r-75 r=40

⇒ r= {40}/{5}=8 \%
