(2) The economist who scientifically determined national income in India for the first time was Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao. During the pre-independence period, many economists estimated the national income of India. Among them, Dadabhai Naoroji was the first to calculate the national income in India in 1868. V.K.V.R Rao was the first estimator who used the scientific methods of measuring the same. After independence, National income committee was established in 1949.
