Two 3-digit numbers have their HCF 29 and LCM 4147. The sum of the numbers is

Solution:

(2) Let the numbers be 29x and 29y where x and y are coprimes
∴

29x × 29y = 29 × 4147

⇒ x y= {29 × 4147}/{29× 29}=143

⇒ x y=13 × 11

∴ Numbers are :

13 x=13 \×29=377

11 y=11 × 29=319

∴ Required sum = 377 + 319 = 696
