(d) Single equivalent discount for 36% and 4%

= ( 36 + 4 - { 36 ×4 }/ { 100 } )

= ( 40 - 1.44 ) \% = 38.56 \%

Required difference

= 1.44% \;\of 500

= { 500 × 1.44 }/ { 100 } = ₹ 7.20
