What is the approximate ratio of the income in 2010 and 2013 if the expenditure is same for the same years?

Solution:

Let the expenditure in 2010 and the incomes in 2010 and 2013 be and respectively. Therefore, for the year 2010 ,

\;{I_{1}-x}/{x} × 100=55 ⇒ \;{I_{1}}/{x}-1=\;{55}/{100} ⇒ I_{1}=\;{155 x}/{100}

And for the year 2013 ,

\;{I_{2}-x}/{x} × 100=70 ⇒ \;{I_{2}}/{x}-1=\;{70}/{100} ⇒ I_{2}=\;{170 x}/{100}

From (1) and (2)

\;{I_{1}}/{I_{2}}=\;{155}/{170}=\;{0.91}/{1}
