There were n boys who were standing in a row facing north. Ajay was 10th to Mukesh’s left and Mukesh was 21st from the right end. If Aditya was standing at 17 from the left end and was also 4th to the right of Ajay, what was the value of n?

Solution:

Since Ajay was 10th in the left of Mukesh who was 21st from right end
Therefore, Ajay was 31st from the right end.
Also, Aditya was at 27th position from right end as he is 4th to the right of Ajay.
Aditya was 17th from left.
Hence,

n=17+27−1

=44−1

=43
