The ratio of ages of Ram and his wife is 9 : 8. After 8 years, the ratio of their respective ages will be 11 : 10. If Ram got married at the age of 25, then how many years ago did they marry?

Solution:

(1) Let ages of Ram and his wife are 9x and 8x. After 8 years,

9x+ 8/8x+8= 11/10⇒ 88x+ 88=90x +80⇒ x =4

Their present ages are 36 years and 32 years. They got married 36– 25 = 11 years ago.
