The ratio between two numbers is 3 : 5. If each number is increased by 4, the ratio becomes 2 : 3. The two numbers are

Solution:

(1) Suppose the numbers are 3x and 5x respectively
∴According to question

{3X+ 4}/{5X+ 4}=2/3

10x + 8 = 9x + 12
10x – 9x = 12 – 8
x = 4
∴First number = 3 × 4 = 12
Second number = 5 × 4 = 20
