Solution:

(2) Suppose his total savings= x
∴According to question Amount still left

= x - 2/7X= 1000

=X-2/7 X=1000

⇒{7X-2X}/7=1000

⇒{5X}/7=1000

⇒X={1000×7}/5⇒X=1400
