A shopkeeper buys 50 dozen eggs at ₹4 per dozen. Out of them, 40 eggs were found broken. At what rate should he sell the remaining eggs per dozen so as to gain 5% on the whole?

Solution:

= 600 – 40 = 560

Let S.P. of eggs = ₹ x per dozen
∴ Total S.P.

= ₹560/12 x

∴ 560 /12 x= {(100 +5)%}/100× 200

⇒ x= 105/100× 2400/560=₹ 4.5
