Solution:

(b) 3x + 7 = 7x + 5 ⇒7x – 3x = 2 ⇒ 4x = 2

⇒ x =1/2

Now,

3x + 7 = x^2 + P

⇒3/2+ 7 =1/4

⇒P =17/2- 1/4 =33/4 =8 1/4
