(d) We have, x cos 60°+ y cos 0° = 3
$\mathit{x}\times \frac{1}{2}+\mathit{y}\times 1=3\frac{\mathit{x}}{2}+\mathit{y}=3$
x + 2y = 6   ...(i)
and 4x sin 30° – y cot 45° = 2
$4\mathit{x}\times \frac{1}{2}\mathit{–}\mathit{y}\times 1=22\mathit{x}\mathit{–}\mathit{y}=2$  ...(ii)
On multiplying by 2 in Eq. (ii) and adding to Eq. (i), we get
x + 2y = 6
4x – 2y = 4
5x = 10
x = 2
