Solution:

(3) 5 + 3 × 8 – 12 ÷ 4 = 3
⇒5 + 3 × 8 ÷ 12 – 4 = 3

⇒5 + 3×8/12 – 4 = 3

⇒5 + 2 – 4 = 3
⇒ 7 – 4 = 3
