A man buys 20 pencils for ₹ 6 and sells 16 pencils for ₹ 6. Calculate his gain or loss percentage.

Solution:

(2) C.P. of 20 pencils =₹ 6
S.P. of 16 pencils =₹ 6
L.C.M. of 20 and 16 = 80
Now, C.P. of 80 pencils =₹ 24
S.P. of 80 pencils =₹ 30

{ P } % = { 30 - 24 }/ { 24 } × 100

= { 30 - 24 } /{ 24 }× 100

= { 6 }/ { 24 } × 100 = 25 \%
