Solution:

( 2 x ) ^ { 2 } - ( 2 y ) ^ { 2 } - ( 4 x ) ^ { 2 }

= 4 x ^ { 2 } - 4 y ^ { 2 } - 16 x ^ { 2 }

= - 12 x ^ { 2 } - 4 y ^ { 2 }
