Solution:

(2) Annual average increment rate = R% (say)
It will follows as simple interest
∵ P = 175000, increased population= 262500
time (T) = 10 years

∴262500 ={P ×R× T}/100

⇒262500 ={175000× R ×10}/100

⇒ 1750 ×R ×10 = 262500

∴R =262500/{1750 × 10}= 5%
