‘A’ and ‘B’ together can do a piece of work in 36 days. If ‘A’ alone does the work for the last 10 days, it is completed in 40 days. ‘B’ alone can do the work in :

Solution:

(2) Let A and B work alone in x and y days respectively.
So,

1 /x+1 /y=1/ 36

...(i)
By question,

[1/x+ 1/y]×30+1/y×10= 1

Putting the value of
equation (i)

30/36+10/y = 1

⇒ 10/y=1-30/36=6/ 36

∴y = 60 days
B alone will work in 60 days
