Solution:

AB = tree
BC = broken part
∴ BC = CD
AD = 30 metre
From ∆ACD,

tan 30°={AC}/{AD}

=AC=AD×1/√3=30/3=10√3

∴AB=AC+BC=10√3+5√3=15√3
