Solution:

(x-2)(x-p)=x^{2}-a x+6

x^{2}-(2+p) x+2 p=x^{2}-a x+6

Comparision the cofficients

2+p=a

2 p=6

⇔ p=3

2+3=a

⇔ a=5

Then

p=3, a=5

a-p=5-3

⇔ a-p=2
