(2) When the pressure is increased, the boiling point of water also increases up to the critical point where the properties of a gas and a liquid become the same. For a given pressure, different liquids boil at different temperatures. For example, water boils at 100°C (212°F) at sea level, but at 93.4°C (200.1°F) at 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) altitude.
