Given:
Ratio between present ages of A & B is 7 : 4.
Difference between the age of A, 4 years ago and the age of B 8 years hence are equal
Calculation:
A : B = 7 : 4
⇒ A = (7 × B)/4
Now,difference between the age of A, 4 years ago and the age of B 8 years hence are equal
⇒ (A - 4) = (B + 8)
⇒ ((7 × B)/4) - 4 = (B + 8)
⇒ B = 16 years
∴ A = (7 × B)/4 = (7 × 16)/4 = 28 years
Sum of ages of A and B = 28 + 16 = 44 years
