The ratio of the ages of Rahul and Ravi is 3 : 4. After 6 years, the new ratio of their ages will be 4 : 5. What is the age of Ravi at present?

Solution:

Given, ratio of the ages of Rahul and Ravi is 3 : 4.

Let the ages of Rahul and Ravi be 3a and 4a respectively.

Given, After 6 years, the new ratio of their ages will be 4 : 5.

⇒ ${3a+6}/{4a+6}$ = ${4/5}$

⇒ 15a + 30 = 16a + 24

⇒ a = 6

Present age of Ravi = 4a = 24 years
